About The Author

Van Gordon Sauter, former president of CBS News and Fox News, began his journalism career as a reporter for the Detroit Free Press and the Chicago Daily News, covering Vietnam and the civil rights movement (including the riots in Newark, Detroit, and Chicago). He later became Paris bureau chief for CBS News. Sauter has written two nonfiction books and numerous magazine articles.  He was also chairman of the California Boxing Commission. Sauter now lives in Chicago and Ketchum, Idaho, with his wife, Kathleen Brown, a former treasurer of California and currently an investment banker in Chicago.
